“Icheinhalb” (en.: “I and a half”) is a graphic novel from autobiographical inspiration on the teenage years of Max Botschinsky, with the post-soviet crisis as historical background. The action takes place in Moscow in the 90’s and in Berlin nowadays. The story is told to the reader with humor and spirituality, sometimes even in the form of a docu-fiction or fantasy. Max is failing in school. He is a bit talented, and a bit of a fool too. At once dreamy, cynical and pessimistic. At least that’s how he appears at the beginning of the book … The book is composed of five chapters in five independent actions, one related to the other through the central character of Max Botschinsky.
